Illuminated letters and calligraphy

Yesterday was the last Typography class for the Fall semester at NYU. After the final exam we had a hands-on day tracing gothic black letters then transferring them onto nice paper then filling the letters in with pastels, watercolors, colored pencils and markers to make beautiful illuminated letters. I also brought in a calligraphy set with ink and a Chinese calligraphy set so the students could get a feel for different lettering techniques. Everyone did beautiful work!
