USPS redesign

Holy cow. I know I’ve tweeted and posted about this before but if this design comes to fruiting I think my head will explode. How beautiful is this work?! LOVE.

Infographics Masters

One of my Saturday morning rituals is to go through the Swiss-Miss Friday Links and this morning there was a gem: Accurat. They are the infographics masters. For anyone who recently took my Graphic Design class at Noble Desktop or is just plain interested in infographics check this site out. Seriously amazing work.

Printed Matter Inspiration

I love design. I love the endless possibilities of color, texture, type and image on the printed page. On It’s Nice That I found some inspiration.

Check out the use of color here:

And the use of pattern here on the endpages:

These are from this book:

And here is a book on cycling (yea!) amazingly called Kings of Pain which really resonates with me at this moment as my legs protest every time I attempt stairs after this week’s intense amount of bike commuting.

Nice cover:

And the echo of the type on the title page:
SS14-Rapha-Kings-of-Pain-Book-17Is that type metallic? Metallic pantone! Love this.

And this book, appropriately titled Fantastic by Gina Moreno Valle, has 3-d elements and comes with viewing glasses but I’m kind of enjoying looking at it without the glasses.

Awesome Posters, Amazing Work

I think Studio Sarp Sozdinler’s work is so kick ass. I found this on It’s Nice That where the little article sent me to his website and I just kind of freaked out.

Embroidered Typography

This post on the recently redesigned Design Observer website is fascinating. I love this not only because of the creative use of typography but because I secretly love embroidery and poetry and linens of all sorts and the work shown in this post somehow captures all of that.

I Heart Bookplates

Not enough people use bookplates these days. I remember the first set I got and happily placed into all of my favorite books. There was a picture of Garfield the cat clutching a set of books and under him were the words, “These are mine” and a line under that where I wrote my name in my best bubbly handwriting. Thankfully my tastes have changed a bit but my love for bookplates has not. On Design*Sponge there is a nice post about The British Library’s Flicker page (oh my god. try not to waste your whole day on this amazing site)  and this freebee!
