During our last class today at the studio the students got their hands dirty carving alphabet letters out of potato halves then inking them up and stamping their own alphabet.

boxing posters from December 7, 2012

Today in class we talked about sans-serif typefaces. To prepare for their upcoming typographic manifesto assignment the students designed boxing posters. The students were only allowed to use sans-serif typefaces, they made up their own competitors, dates, sponsors, etc.

Blast from the past–guess who hasn’t changed much?

Yo found these today while packing up. I made this postcard while I was working at George magazine and sent a copy to Yo and Francesca at the studio! I still have the stencils that I used to make the letters on this card and so much of what I do today still looks like this . . .

desk supply heaven

Ok, I am officially breathless. I just discovered the site, presentandcorrect.com through the Mrs. Easton blog. I don’t know about you but I’ve always loved office and desk supplies.

Nice type at the American Museum of Natural History

Looking at the dioramas with my kids I immediately noticed the beautiful lettering in front of each taxidermied setting. Check out this beautiful capital R . . .
